Welcome to our website of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Lookout Mountain, TN. Realizing that we can’t really convey fully who we are as a community via this virtual world that is the internet, we hope that what you will find as you thumb through our website is a love and grace filled community striving to be Christ to each other and the body of Christ in the world.
We have lively, vibrant and diverse worship—three celebrations of the Holy Eucharist on Sunday and mid-week Eucharists on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Moreover, we have an online community that gathers virtually for Morning Prayer, Monday through Friday, plus Evening Prayer Monday and Tuesday afternoons.
Our opportunities for Christian formation range from mid-week Bible studies to Sunday school for all ages (generally during the school year calendar, taking time off for summer). Youth (grades 6-12) meets on Wednesday evenings throughout the year.
Through our worship and formation, we then seek to be Christ in the world. Many of our parishioners are active in various ministries in Chattanooga and beyond. As a church community, our main outreach has been through our partnership with East Side Elementary School in Chattanooga where we have helped with tutoring, mentoring and the Chattanooga Area Food Bank’s mobile food pantry at East Side, and with St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church and School in Petit Harpon, Haiti.
