Music

Music is the way in which worshippers give voice to the action and meaning of the liturgy and worship. At Good Shepherd the choir, singers and organ lead the congregation in corporate song, giving praise and thanksgiving to God through hymns, Psalms and other musical forms. Our music is very closely integrated with the scripture and seasonal theme of each Sunday and draws from a variety of styles and traditions, particularly our Anglican tradition of choral anthem and organ. Opportunities are offered for the participation of children musically in worship. If you have a child who would be interested, please contact Director of Music, John Wigal at jwigal@gslookout.com or at the church office, (423) 821-1583.

The Adult Choir

The Adult Choir is the leader of our musical ensembles. Supported by a quartet of local professionals, the Adult Choir is the regular leader of Sunday worship and feast liturgies. The choir rehearses on Wednesdays, from Labor Day through Pentecost from 6:45 to 8:15 PM.

The choir is made up of many volunteers with a wide variety of skills and experiences and is open to any interested person high school age or older. In addition to its regular Sunday schedule, the choir takes part in community festivals, diocesan events and annually presents two or three large works as well, including those by Haydn, Howells, Mozart, Schubert, Stanford and others.
